Look at my Schefflera:
Another leaf growing before the one prior has even THOUGHT about hardening off.
My lovely reader Janet emailed me to discuss Schefflera and bookcase peeping and she told me how her schefflera went from spindly and weak to a big, thick TREE by simply giving it more light.
My usual stance on Scheffleras and light is that they’re happy in pretty much any light that’s medium and up BUT Janet did inspire me to whack mine right next to the window and it is THRIVING.
It would probably be thriving more if I dusted the leaves, but let’s take things step by step.
There’s even another little leaf waiting in the wings.
I’ve started decorating the hall countertop. I do NOT have an eye for this so it’ll develop over time. I find myself needing candlesticks twice in a year. 38 years of never so much as thinking about candlesticks and now I think of little else. Isn’t getting older weird?
I need something to go under the glass raisers. I used them because it looked a bit uniform, height wise. I wonder if it would be bright enough for lithops?
My mum got me a Rituals reed diffuser for my birthday last year and I LOVE it but cannot bring myself to spend £30 on a jar of oil so I asked for a refill this year. Turns out a refill is the same price as a whole new one (for the same volume!) so I asked her to get a whole new one and I can use it here to add a bit of interest.
I won’t put the oil in because I don’t like have fragrance near the rabbits. It’s fine in the bathroom because we keep the window open and they’re on the other side of the house.
SANSI discount code
A great perk of writing about stuff on the internet is that companies want to give you free stuff. To date I have received:
A jigsaw puzzle
2 professional grow lights
A Click And Grow System
It’s awesome! Some one from the company seems you an email (or usually a dm on Instagram) and you get free stuff!
I know it’s not a lot but it’s a free present!
I was VERY excited when Sansi got in touch last week offering something for free BUT they actually wanted something (all the others have a ‘write about it if you want but no obligation’ deal) that I couldn’t provide.
They wanted a reel.
I’m not really a reel person.
I don’t like short form content. I like content with a bit of heft. Instagram is fine for random pictures, but I’m not spending hours editing a reel that the algorithm with flirt with it for 24 hours and then ghost.
Instead, I mentioned that I have newsletter with a 40% click through rate and they were like… ‘thanks but no thanks. We want a REEL’.
Jokes, jokes, they were very nice.
I didn’t want to do a reel so don’t get any free stuff (booo) but they did give me a 32% off discount code. They said I could either have a 10% of everything code or a 32% off anything that isn’t already discounted. I picked 32%. I hope that’s ok.
I ummed and ahhed about sharing the code because it seems unethical when I haven’t used the company myself, but then I thought plenty have people have used Sansi, what if one of my readers is looking SPECIFICALLY to buy some Sansi grow lights and they unnecessarily pay 32% more.
Before I share the code I MUST STRESS that I have NEVER tried anything from Sansi. The online reviews are mixed at best. Please don’t tell Sansi I said this but the website looks incredibly suspicious. There’s a typo on the landing page!
You’re missing a ‘t’ in installation guys.
If anyone has any thoughts on them do leave a comment. Every plant influencer and their mum seems to use EITHER Sansi (cheap) or Mother (Pricey af) grow lights, and the reviews for both are, shall we say, a mixed bag.
Here is the link if you’re brave enough to try it.
Maybe read the Trust Pilot reviews first 😂
(Yeah, they’re gonna put me on ‘no free stuff’ list aren’t they).
Tbh, I’d have tried something if they’d have sent me it for free, but I don’t really need any more grow lights atm.
This Week’s Video
I filmed two videos this morning - a Maidenhair Fern Care one for next week and this plant updates one:
If you’re interested in how the Monstera Sproutlets are getting on, there’s an update. If you want to know but cba to watch the video, I now have ELEVEN baby Monstera.
One has survived being trapped in the lid for several days (it’s a bit…wonky now) and they all survived me accidentally dropping them. Oops. Well done guys.
OOO big news: I passed my AAT level 3. I cannot BELIEVE I passed the last exam. I was so, so ill. I can’t even remember it, I was that delirious.
See you next week, have a good one!

Let me know if it doesn't work and I’ll tell Sansi. According to my affiliates panel you can add Caroline at checkout for a discount too.
I have about 10 Sansi bulbs and love them! They’re the 24W and 36W bulbs and I much prefer them to my Barrina lights that I have in my cabinets. I would love to replace those Barrina’s with Mother or Soltec lights, but those are just so expensive. I can’t speak to the longevity of the Sansi bulbs, but they have a five year warranty (I believe) and my plants are all doing very well under them. Just in case you wanted some peace of mind from a good review, and thanks for the discount code!
